Air Duct Cleaning before and after

What do the words air pollution make you think of? Cars? City busses? Factories with billowing smoke? We tend to think we’re safer from pollution once we come indoors, but did you know that, according to the EPA, indoor air can be two to three times more polluted than the air you breathe outside? That’s why indoor air quality is so important.

Every time you spray your hair, pull out the craft paints or burn a candle, you’re putting pollutants into your indoor air system. Household cleaners are culprits, too (some even release VOCs into the air while being stored). That’s not to say you have to toss all the craft kits or swap all your daily cleaners (though low-VOC options are worth looking into). The best way to address the issue and improve your indoor air quality is duct cleaning.

How does it work?
Cleaning the air ducts involves two main components: breaking contaminants loose and collecting those contaminants. According to NADCA, “Before cleaning begins, the entire HVACsystem is placed under negative pressure to prevent debris from spreading around your home. Then a professional will use specially designed devices, such as brushes, air whips or compressed air nozzles, to loosen the contaminants present in your air ducts. Once the debris and fine particles are airborne, they can be removed from the system.”

“I can feel the difference after cleaning the air ducts,” says Alexandra Athanassiou. “My allergies are way down. Thanks, Steve and Tyler, for a job well done.”

“We immediately noticed increased heat flowing coming out of our vents,” says Christine Wilson. “Our goal was cleaner air to breathe — we go that (hurray!) plus the added benefit of better air flow, which will save on heating/AC costs.”
